For the Final Project I am partnering up with Ryan Audemard and Christina Wang. We all agree on this collaboration and have devised a structure for our Final Project. The question we decided to work on is:
What was donated to Bates in comparison to the goal donation? To answer this question we will look at several variables pertaining to the donations and the timeline of the donations. we will find data on things such as ‘Did any global events affect the amount donated?’, ‘The occupation of the donors’, ‘The Gender of the donors’, ‘Their Birthplace compared to their place of residence’ and so on. We can go further into this project by discussing what other variables affect the donations.
Another method we would like to incorporate is looking at information about the donations from different sources to form a comparison. In order to do this we can use relational databases and use the merge function to draw a better comparison between several data points.
We also need to use data from two timelines that show a lot of variance for our research to be meaningful. This means we need to look at donations from times that are significantly different from each other. For example: one with extremely high donations and the other with low donations.
We will also perform exploratory data analysis on the data we will procure different sources. In the end we will compare all the different tests we have performed on the different data points.
