REFLECTION 4:COMPARING 2 DONATIONS

We are using the Treasurer’s Records from 1854-1858 in order to fill in information in MSS_donors.csv. We analyzed and performed Exploratory data analysis on this data along with some introductory sub setting. This data provides us with the list of donors from 1854-1858. It also gives us additional information such as location, last name and donation amount, on the basis of which we subset it. We subset the amounts of Wilton and Farmington donations into two variables. We create two vectors wilton and farmington which store all the rows that have Wilton and Farmington in their location columns. Then we take two variables called wilton_donations and warmington_donations with the values in the Amount columns with wilton and farmington in their rows. Then the mean is taken for both of the variables. T test is performed to test the reliability of the means of these two datasets. The results show a low t value indicating that the datasets are similar and a high p value indicating that the difference in the data is not reliable. It also displays degrees of freedom and the confidence interval. These are very useful statistical tools as they help a lot with financial decisions and are widely used in the real world.
